At JFK right next to the baggage claim is a Ground Transport desk where I was informed that I could try the subway $7, a shuttle $18.50 or buses or cabs. Seeing as my bag was a tonne, decided to go the door to door option and besides, what is $18.50 plus tip ...?
Well it was an adventure as it took 1.5 hrs to get to Affinia Hotel - the driver had 5 groups of passengers to deposit and he got it into his head of an address that none of us were off to. I was dropped off second last.
Jessica unfortunately missed the desk and tried her luck with a cab - but was talked into getting some other kind of cab than yellow and when she was finally deposited her it cost her around $100.

Today we met up with another cousin of ours, Glenda and we went to Soho to look at shops and visit the Magnolia Bakery which features in Sex and the City. I had a vanilla cupcake with green icing. We also had Blom gelati. It has been hot here again. We visited the Marc Jacobs store. Went into Sephora - the mecca of cosmetic needs where I found Pacifica solid perfumes and a cute lipgloss. Also into Bloomingdales - any person who has read American teenage girl novels knows of this store. Betsey Johnson earrings were found there and very cute. In another store found EOS watches which were shaped like cassette tapes.
We then got a cab back to Broadway to buy tickets - we are going to see Addam's Family tonight at 7pm.
We tried out the subway, but I was bamboozled and although we managed to get one stop to Times Square - I couldn't figure out where to change to get to Penn Station which is our stop. So we got out and walked.
Found out the Borders free wifi is as slow as ...
