As I failed to go to the art district, I took a walk around. Found some apartment blocks with some heavily landscaped gardens, with marble statues no less, lots of people with fluffy dogs, a kindergarten.
I walked across main roads by myself and found myself insulting dodgy and slow drivers for blocking my way.
Ended up at Viva after doing a big block. Tried looking for a post office and failed. Inside Viva had a look around and found bother high end fashion stores and things that were like Sportsgirl. Everything is on sale at the moment because the seasons are changing. Win for me as Oz is going into Winter.
Had Starbucks while waiting for my aunt. We were going to have dinner and then head to see an Uiquar band. We went to a Malay Restaurant but got talking about our family and before we knew it it was midnight. Headed round to the bar anyway and another band playing blues was on by then, headed by this unruly guy who kept playing faster and let his poor band try to catch up. Then this gwailoa got on and strapped on a harmonica and started singing the most doleful songs since Coldplay about river styx and banks of the dead and waiting for you there. The bar itself was fantastic - very cosy. It was in an old house in the hutongs and outside were all these rickshaws tied up and draped with tarps for the night. I don't know where we wre but I have a business card... it's late, nearly 2am, and I need to be at my aunt's by 10.30am to meet a driver who is taking me somewhere... I don't even remember. The Summer Palace or the Birds nest... My days are filling up with plans.
