Today in brief:
Dropped off near T Square, on the side with Mao's big painting. Amy tells me that the same guy is charged with painting this thing. What will happen when he dies? The painting is changed every so often as the paint fades.
Forbidden City is enormous. I got an auto guide this time. Sorta works by GPS or something. When you get near an attraction, the recording will start by itself. There is a little ipod size thing that is a map with LEDs for each stop. If you have been there, the light goes off. This system is really handy.
There was probably no way to see everything. I traversed most of the middle (missed a couple buildings because I verged to the right). Saw the 9 dragons which grandad really wanted me to see (costs an extra 10rmb to get in). And came out the other side at closing time. Good timing. The size of the buildings is mind boggling. Even the walls.
Then a cab back around to T Square as there was still daylight. I only got to look at all the stuff from the outside as most museum type things shut at 4pm. Forb/City closes 4.30pm.
